About Our Client

Coopers Fire are a market leading manufacturer, installer and service provider for fire curtains, fire barriers and smoke curtain systems and are trusted to protect the world's most prestigious buildings with innovative and discreet smoke barriers and fire curtains. In short Coopers make buildings safer.

Working with architects to revolutionise the way they design buildings; Coopers provide bespoke products that are fitted in buildings around the world and specified where performance is critical across many building applications such as airports, shopping centres, railway stations, offices, hotels, museums, factories and many other public spaces across the built environment.

Due to continued investment, growth and expansion a newly created opportunity has become available for an Operations Director on the Senior Leadership team. This Senior Director will report into the Managing Director and have overarching responsibility for product design, innovation, manufacturing and continuous improvement, to keep the Company at the forefront of the industry. This role will drive operational excellent through inspiring teams and building a culture of quality, innovation and pioneering across the Engineering and Manufacturing departments.

Job Description

· Lead, mentor and develop the engineering, manufacturing and continuous improvements teams (circa 100 employees), providing guidance and an environment in which they can thrive and achieve their potential

· Develop and implement a strategy to optimise operational efficiency / effectiveness and ensure market leading compliance / certification within the industry

· Drive a culture of customer experience and continuous improvement across the Engineering and Manufacturing departments

· Spearhead the integration of Lean processing into the manufacturing operations, optimising efficiency and reducing waste

· Provide strategic direction and leadership within Engineering, driving the research and development of bespoke safety critical products and innovative solutions from concept, through to product launch

· Drive high performing teams through excellent leadership, management, development opportunities and engagement.

· Monitor industry trends and technology advancements to reduce costs and ensure the business remains competitive.

· Ensure development opportunities for the teams through qualifications, skills development, mentoring and coaching

· Develop strong relationships across the business to understand the market requirements to drive innovation

The Successful Applicant

· Engineering degree/equivalent qualification

· Experience in a bespoke mechanical or electrical manufacturing environment

· Leading abilities to inspire teams to achieve through mentoring. coaching and support

· Experience in driving through a culture of lean processing

· Project delivery experience bringing manufacturing processes in-house

· Working in an industry where compliance and certifications are essential

· Located within commuting distance of Head Office in Hampshire or ability to relocate
