The Project Manager will be responsible for the development, integration and launch of Pure, a Current Research Information System. This role will provide the project management, reporting and administration required to ensure the successful integration of this system.

 

As part of this change management process, they will serve as the champion for Pure to ensure appropriate stakeholder buy-in and engagement across the BNU community. They will be working with a broad range of key BNU stakeholders ranging from professional services teams such as HR, DTS and finance to the broader academic community. Successful integration of this system will also require the postholder to have the technical expertise and acumen to understand, analyse and cleanse various databases which will feed into Pure.

 

A key part of this role will be to ensure the data entered is accurate and that the outputs are appropriate and in line with sector practice. The post holder will also work with the appropriate research administrators to train and upskill them in administering the system, ultimately ensuring a smooth transition from the initial launch to embedding the software and processes into BNU community practices.

Responsible for:The integration of a Current Research Information System (CRIS) at BNU.

Job Purpose:

To manage the planning and delivery of this digital project from definition through implementation and transition to operations.  To engage with all stakeholders to ensure that system is developed in-line with the defined business needs, project objectives and the strategic aims of the University. To provide business and systems analyst support for the design, development, implementation and integration of new digital solutions.

 

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

Take full responsibility for the implementation and delivery of a university-wide Current Research Information System (CRIS). This will include all elements of planning, financial management, supplier management, documentation, governance and benefit realisation.

Assist in the production of formal business cases and other project documentation for the proposed digital solution and service model as a basis for financial budgeting and decision making at a senior management level.

Liaise with stakeholders to understand, define, prioritise and document business requirements and high level project scoping for review and approval, identifying optimal performance and change outcomes.

Ensure that existing processes are understood, mapped and documented and that the design of the solution is optimised in terms of cost, availability and benefits. 

Carryout business and system analysis for the creation and execution of project delivery plans, ensuring that they are revised as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

Deliver the approved project according to the agreed plan and manage changes effectively to achieve projects objectives.

 

Create and maintain project plans and supporting documentation, estimate time requirements, establish deadlines and scope, identify resource requirements, monitor milestone completion and track all phases of the project lifecycle.

 

Coordinate the work of a multi-skilled team and manage project resources within budget.

Manage and mitigate risks and issues that impact project progress and outcome delivery, ensuring that they are resolved and/or escalated in a timely fashion.

Facilitate meetings between the project team and project stakeholders as required to evaluate progress and manage expectations regarding development efforts.

Build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, whether academic staff, professional services staff or external partners.

Plan and chair regular working group meetings, including agendas and minutes, to ensure all parties are engaged.

Manage the interaction with project stakeholders and produce reports as needed to communicate the project progress, problems and proposed solutions.

Supervisory duties including motivating and supporting team members, giving direction and feedback and ensuring adequate staffing cover. 

Manage project governance structures, such as project boards, and provide detailed project reporting including financial reporting and develop and monitor benefits realisation plans to demonstrate delivery against the overall portfolio targets.

Develop communication plans and ensure regular relevant and timely communication takes place with all stakeholders to effectively manage their expectations and deliver successful change outcomes.

Ensure the project follows the defined methodology and meets quality standards.

Ensure that all documentation relating to the project and digital solution is managed effectively in keeping with the DTS Directorate standards throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Ensure that the specification, purchase, build and deployment of the new digital solution complies with both internal standards and security policies and all relevant legislation and regulations.

Manage the transition of projects into “business as usual” to ensure that new ways of working are embedded into operational teams.

Close the technical project down effectively in line with best practice ensuring that the solution meets the agreed requirements and that activities for transition and closure (including the capture of lessons learned) are planned and executed efficiently.

Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices
