Role Purpose:
- To identify, quantify and prioritise opportunities to drive sales and Good Cause returns within the Retail Channel.
- To track performance and delivery of the Retail channel vs agreed KPIs, identifying opportunities and risks to delivery of the Retail Channel budget.
- To evaluate performance and effectiveness of key initiatives and different sales levers within Retail, working with Finance to quantify the return on investment and make recommendations on future next steps.
- To support the Senior Retail Strategy Manager and Retail Leadership team on priority initiatives within the annual business plan, by providing insight and modelling scenarios to reach recommendations on strategic choices.
This role is offered on a permanent basis. We offer hybrid working with an expectation that the successful candidate will be in our Watford HQ office twice a week.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support Retail leadership team (RLT) by producing actionable insight through analysis of retail sales data across channels, retailers, regions and games, to identify opportunities and risks to sales performance within the total channel.
- Create and automate relevant retail sales reports by joining up multiple data sources (e.g, Business Intelligence, external market data) to track and measure performance vs KPIs and budget.
- Lead the monthly channel performance review with RLT, including review of the performance KPI pack and specific ad hoc analysis as requested.
- Support the Annual Business Planning process by providing relevant analysis to quantify base performance run rates, opportunities and risks, working with RLT, Commercial Planning & Trading and Finance teams.
- Conduct Retail channel analysis and provide required inputs into the business re-forecasting process ( 3 per annum), working closely with the Commercial planning & Trading team and Finance.
- Develop new analysis and insight to support strategic initiatives within the retail channel eg Field Sales team segmentation model, new Retailer Incentive programme.
- Conduct post evaluations of key retail initiatives, as defined by RLT. eg Store standards programme, impact of distribution changes. Work closely with the Data and Insight team, to agree methodologies and sample size, to define effectiveness and performance vs agreed KPIs and make recommendations on required actions and next steps.
- Represent the Retail function on all key Data and System change initiatives such as rollout of the new SG Gemsuite technology, to ensure that all requirements are captured within the project scope. Identify and anticipate any changes that will affect the team's ability to service Retailers.
- Develop knowledge and expertise on new systems to become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Retail team, working with the Retail Training team to develop an appropriate programme of training, to ensure upskilling on new systems across the wider retail team.
- Work closely with Data and Insights and the Commercial Planning & Trading team to ensure best in class, methodologies, and processes are in place within the retail team.
- Manage and coach a Retail data exec to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of the regular weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, including,
- Weekly trading reports and deck
- Monthly KPI pack and reporting to Business Plan Steering Group
- Quarterly and year end performance reporting to the Gambling Commission, including audits on other internal reports.
- Coach and support the Data executive to provide data/analysis as agreed, to support broader retail channel agenda eg inputs to retailer satisfaction survey.
Key Measures of Success:
- Provision of accurate and timely Retail reporting for key stakeholders.
- Synthesis of multiple data points into relevant and actionable insight.
- Distillation of complex and detailed analysis into simple and clear insight summaries.
- Proactive identification of opportunities and risks to delivery of the Retail Channel KPIs.
- Focused analysis on opportunities or risks that add most value to the business.
- Being the champion of the Retail team, ensuring that all key requirements are embedded into scope of new reporting systems.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent analytical skills, with the proven ability to manage and manipulate large data sets from multiple data sources (consumer, sales, retail and macro trends).
- Experience in creating accurate and user friendly reports from scratch.
- Ability to translate raw data into analysis and simple and clear actionable insights.
- Naturally curious, with the ability to decipher and effectively scrutinise data to identify anomalies or patterns.
- Experience in the following an advantage: SQL/SAP Business Objects, Qlik (or another data visualisation product), Microsoft/Google suite
- Understand the importance of commercial delivery and how that is inextricably linked to specific retail sales levers. Eg In store standards.
- Ideally, proven experience and expertise in working with retail data (eg internal sales data, EPOS, Kantar) in a supplier or retailer organisation, with demonstrable experience of putting the retailer at the heart.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise workload based on requirements and flex accordingly as business priorities change.
- Collaborative, with experience of working across different teams, often at the same time, and can take charge in getting to clear solutions that can be presented back to the business.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills (written/verbal) including presenting confidently to senior managers and cross functional teams
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge the norm.

These checks include a DBS (an enhanced check, which shows convictions and conditional cautions), credit and social media checks. As part of our application process, you will be asked to identify in advance if you have spent or unspent convictions that we need to be aware of.
Should you not disclose convictions at the application stage, not pass the Fit & Proper Check process or not complete your Pre-Employment Screening then unfortunately you may not pass our probation process.
