Founded in 1646, Reading Blue Coat is a leading independent day school of circa 800 pupils from ages 11 to 18. The School is located on a beautiful 46-acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading.
The School employs more than 180 staff, of whom 50% are academic staff, and provides a stimulating, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical, and creative potential.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Business and Economics specialist to lead this excellent department. You will teach our Sixth Form students following the Edexcel Economics and Business syllabi.
The department has a reputation for excellence in teaching and learning and a record of examination success. During summer 2023, 50% of students achieved A*-A grades and 96% achieved A*-C grade. Both Economics and Business are very well resourced and Economics is particularly popular at the School.
The ideal candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, have a good degree in a relevant discipline; be able to teach both Economics and Business to A Level and demonstrate vision and leadership attributes.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the co-curricular offerings of the departments and the wider life of the School, to which your energy, warmth and pastoral instincts will lend themselves.
