Commercial Counsel and DPO – Highly Regarded Law Firm
We are delighted to be working with a highly regarded full-service law firm to find a senior lawyer for the role of Commercial Counsel and DPO.

As the firm grows the internal team is expanding to meet the demands of the business. We are seeking a senior lawyer with commercial contracts and data protection experience to work alongside the COO and Head of Risk and Compliance. The role will require the individual to negotiate and draft the firm’s internal procurement and commercial contracts, manage a contracts database and oversee third party contractual relationships. With respect to data protection the postholder will be the firm’s DPO. They must create, oversee and enforce a framework of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all data protection laws, manage day-to-day DSARS and FOI requests, respond to any breaches, provide training to the business and undertake external liaison with bodies such as the IOC.
This role is an important hire for the firm and will provide strength and guidance to the internal team. We are seeking a lawyer with at least 7+ years of experience as a commercial lawyer with experience of data protection. Ideally you will be a qualified solicitor or barrister and have some UK or European data protection qualifications. A track record as a DPO in another organisation would be advantageous. A good grasp of IT systems and data security is also highly desirable. Knowledge and experience of law firm regulation and compliance will be an added advantage, but is not a prerequisite to be considered for this opportunity.
