Finance Assistant
Permanent | £26,000-£30,000 per annum
We are delighted to be working with this successful growing business in helping them find a talented and bright Finance Assistant. With the desire to develop your finance skills and working with an experienced Finance Manager you will demonstrate a good understanding of general accounting and be enthusiastic and eager to join a business who’s values of integrity, innovation, collaboration, and humility are at the core of everything they do.
In this newly created position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Finance Manager on all financial accounting matters for the UK part of the US owned business.
As a person you will be enthusiastic about playing a key role within a busy finance team and will understand the importance of accuracy whilst paying attention to the finer detail.
The job
- Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts ensuring accuracy and completeness at all times
- Calculate, manage, and schedule payment of rebates in accordance with commercial agreements
- Support Finance Manager in assessing monthly accruals
- Provide support to accounts payable function, including invoice processing
- Payment processing, discrepancy resolution and supplier communication
- Support accounts receivable function
- Support Finance Manager in building reporting, budget, and other models using Excel
- Adhoc general accounting support where required
The person specification
- Ideally part qualified AAT or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong general accounting skills to include, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation and accounts preparation
- Experience of using an accounting system, Sage Line 50 preferable but not essential
- Self-starter who can work well alone and as part of a team
- Eager to deliver high quality results
- Demonstrable intermediate Excel skills with the desire to develop your skills
- Excellent numeracy skills and good attention to detail
- Motivated team player with good interpersonal skills and strong desire to support the team
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrable time-management skills
- Ability to resolve problems and queries quickly and efficiently
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Relevant degree in finance, statistics or maths is desirable
