Job description
The roles involve installation, repair, and service of compactors and balers at customer locations. As a customer-facing representative, the Field Service Engineer plays a critical role in upholding our professional image while delivering high-quality service.
Salaried: £36k DOE
Van and other equipment provided
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical services such as repairs, maintenance, site surveys, and training.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment, and train customers in safe operation.
- Ensure all equipment supplied by our client meets the highest standards as per company guidelines.
- Provide detailed estimates for breakdown and remedial repairs.
- Engage with site staff to meet customer expectations and ensure issues are resolved.
- Process necessary paperwork accurately and obtain customer approval for all work done.
- Coordinate with company staff on job progress to facilitate service activities.
- Establish excellent customer relationships to ensure superior customer care.
- Conduct courtesy visits to customer sites, advising on additional services and maximizing sales opportunities.
- Manage time effectively to optimize work completion, customer satisfaction, and profit.
- Maintain stock of spares and tools for all service needs.
- Identify and return excess stock regularly.
- Manage van stock to ensure responsible handling and storage of items.
Other Duties:
- Coordinate inventory and stock replenishment through Head Office.
- Keep the service vehicle clean and in excellent condition, and perform daily inspections.
- Stay presentable, ensuring uniform and workwear are maintained to a high standard.
- Provide feedback on product defects and quality issues to contribute to product improvements.
- Maintain open communication with regional Field Service Engineers and sales staff.
- Ensure health and safety protocols are followed as per company policy.
- Regularly check and recertify tools and personal protective equipment.
Experience:
- Prior experience in repairing and servicing equipment, with a strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance. Welding experience and knowledge of hydraulics are essential.
- Diagnostic ability to identify and rectify equipment faults.
- Customer-facing experience.
- Full UK driving license.
- Product-specific training will be provided.
- Occasional overnight stays and weekend work required.
