About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Proposal Writer to join our Power T&D team in Derby. We have a flexible approach to working, with the successful candidate able to work from either our Derby head office, or from any one of our many locations throughout the UK

Power T&D is about to embark on a journey of unprecedented growth, this is a great opportunity for an experienced bid writer who is looking to take their next step into a Proposal Writer role.

Role Purpose:

• Act as the Lead Author to produce professionally written, consistent proposal content that clearly articulates Balfour Beatty's value proposition.

What you'll be doing

As a Proposal Writer you will:

• Develop Value propositions tailored to customers unique requirements;
• Assist the Bid Managers in developing a proposal structure;
• Conduct answer planning sessions;
• Create response structures and compiling narrative for BBLP, Balvac and Ground Engineering quality responses. Aligned to the customers evaluation criteria and objectives;
• Provide one BB tone of voice across quality submissions;
• Manage content and structure for evidence and case studies;
• Develop case studies and evidence with contract teams and subject matter experts;
• Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts;
• Coordinate and manage response review sessions;
• Support with submission graphics and final documents upload;
• Ability to coach operational teams and subject matter experts in writing best practice;
• Support with bid and systems administration.

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience:

• Proven skills in producing and editing proposal content within a complex business environment;
• Experienced in leading answer planning sessions, participating in key review meetings/ final document review, content sign off and document production;
• Experience of coordinating and updating a knowledge base system is beneficial;
• Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate professionally with colleagues at all levels of the business;
• Ability to use a range of tools, methods and search engines, to analyse and assimilate data, such as competitor analysis or customer research;
• Collate proposal documents using library/information stores, search engines/corporate directories;
• Ability to work collaboratively with work winning, operational teams and supply chain;

Qualifications:

• Certified to APMP Foundation or Practitioner Level;
• Advanced MS Word skills & proficient in MS Office.
