Role: Design Coordinator

Responsibilities of the Design coordinator:

The role of Design Coordinator is pivotal, involving the management of the design service for joinery and fit-out contracts. This includes leading an in-house design team and collaborating closely with project management, production teams, clients' multidisciplinary teams, external consultants, specialist subcontractors, and suppliers.

Key responsibilities encompass:

• Steering the project's design development in partnership with the project manager, clients, and our architectural consultant.
• Monitoring design costs against budget allocations.
• Offering design advice on regulatory compliance, fire protection, and other critical areas.
• Ensuring the design team produces accurate, efficient drawings on schedule.
• Leading design meetings and proactively resolving design issues.
• Maintaining records, managing information flow, and providing regular progress updates.

Ideal candidates will bring extensive experience in architectural design and/or construction project management, particularly with projects progressing from RIBA stage 4 onwards under design and build contracts, and a familiarity with BIM processes. Strong communication, leadership, planning skills, and the capacity to remain proactive and adaptable under pressure are essential. Experience in managing tight deadlines and a commitment to going the extra mile to achieve project milestones are also critical.
