Job Description Summary
Based at our HVDC Transformer Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK - The Purchasing and Material Management Leader will lead and develop a team of Buyers whilst in parallel coordinating all procurement activities across the HVDC Transformer Product Delivery Group (PDG), driving the procurement strategy in line with business processes and best practice. The role will entail close alignment with Manufacturing and Sourcing functions, as well as other key stakeholders, and will be focusing on Direct materials.
You'll manage dynamic priorities, necessitating minimal guidance with an emphasis on effective communication with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, and suppliers.
Job Description
The Senior Procurement Leader is responsible for:
- Provide leadership, coaching and development to the purchasing and material management team.
- Strategic focus of the function including implementation of improvements.
- Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with Suppliers.
- Ensure all functional processes are compliant and effective.
- Ensure high levels of supplier performance by managing safety, quality, cost, and delivery, while also championing continuous improvement for the department.
- Identify risks to supply continuity and take proactive measures to minimise the impact on production.
- Utilise the company's ERP system (SAP) to ensure the team effectively manage parts availability in alignment with scheduled demand, addressing the impact of any schedule changes, engineering changes, material nonconformities and other issues.
- Provide purchasing, material management and commercial input to cross-functional teams, contributing confidently to company goals through effective teamwork.
- Manage relationships with suppliers for PO execution.
- Inventory Management Key Leadership
- Report procurement, material management and inventory key performance indicators (KPIs) and analyse data to understand variances.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills to identify root causes and prevent the recurrence of supply-related issues.
- Utilise experience in assessing supplier capability and capacity in manufacturing and supply.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience working in a fast-paced strategic procurement, material management or supply chain role in an industrial environment (preferable engineer to order)
- Broad experience with MRP systems (SAP)
- Experience managing and building relationships with partner suppliers to ensure supplier responsiveness, respect to specifications and competitive budgets.
- Successful inventory management and reduction experience while keeping the highest level of material availability to ensure smooth production.
- Very responsive to manufacturing daily and short and midterm needs.
- The ability to work autonomously.
