As a Principal Project Professional at BMT, you step into a dynamic project environment, taking the lead in defining, managing, and ensuring the successful delivery of groups of projects for our clients within contractual service-based relationships. Your role plays a vital part in BMT's commitment to delivering insight, innovation, and results across multiple domains. Here's an overview of what you'll be engaged in:
Identification, definition, delivery, and closure of highly complex or business-critical projects or programmes.
Oversight or assurance of groups of complex or standard projects within a formal programme area, ensuring they meet business delivery performance targets.
Leadership of programmes and projects in a commercially focused, contract-based environment, emphasizing strong financial performance.
Contribution to the development of BMT's Project Management Function, promoting best practices, and undertaking project assurance activities.
Mentorship or coaching of other staff involved in project delivery tasks.
Line management responsibilities for other Project Professional colleagues within the Function.
Projects span across BMT's UK sites, currently emphasizing locations in Bath, Bristol, Weymouth, Fareham, Plymouth, Southampton, and London. Flexibility is a key aspect, allowing operations from various locations, including home-working or client sites, and even overseas. Travel and subsistence adhere to BMT’s policy.
We can work on a full or part time basis according to the roles that the Principal Project Professional fulfils, although the nature of the Programme or Project Manager roles often drive regular engagement with project teams on a daily basis. About you
We're seeking individuals who share our enthusiasm for successfully delivering projects, contributing to the growth of a robust project management community within BMT's global operations. Here's what we're looking for:
As a Principal Project Professional, you're likely to have responsibilities for or assure project financial and commercial performance within a specific domain or program area. You should be able to undertake project and program delivery responsibilities equivalent to SFIA8 Responsibilities Level 5 (Ensure, Advise) and influence at Level 6.
Competency in project management skills should align with SFIA8 Project Management (PRMG) Skill Level 6 in the Project Manager role, and SFIA8 Programme Management (PGMG) Level 6 or Portfolio Management (POMG) Level 5 in the Programme Manager role.
You're expected to hold or be able to achieve one or more Project, Programme, or Portfolio Management qualifications. BMT supports your development, and if these qualifications aren't currently held, assistance is provided to achieve a recognized reflection of your capabilities. A degree-level qualification in a project management- or engineering-related discipline is desirable. Continuous professional development, professional qualifications, and registration with bodies like the APM, PMI, or CMI are valued.
Due to the nature of the work, this position will require full UK Security Clearance (SC) and you should have resided in the UK for more than 5 years. No applications will be considered if you are not in a position to either attain or transfer the security clearance.
