Role
As a fibre engineer your primary duty will be to provide a fibre cable from an external POI (point of intervention) right through to the End User. This whole process could include operating a tracked cable ploughing vehicle to bury the cable, climbing telephone poles by harness/mobile platform, rodding existing underground telecom’s structure and working at a customer’s premises to provide the broadband access point.
Responsibilities
Observe and implement safe working practices and encourage others to do so
Working on PIA network
Working at heights (from an elevating vehicle mounted platform and ladders/Harness)
Working underground (occasional confined spaces)
Cabling, fibre splicing and testing Passive Optical Networks (PON’s)
Assisting to achieve targets and KPI’s
Reporting to the Operations Manager
Requirement
Ideally candidates will have previous experience working on the telecommunications network however this is not essential as full training can be provided.
Able to complete comprehensive risk assessments and demonstrate health & safety consciousness.
Proficient in the use of power tools.
Must be able to demonstrate a good standard of Telecoms knowledge
Understand OS maps
The ability to communicate well.
You must have a clean driving licence
