Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 4 months

Work as part of a team, of social workers and other professionals, delivering high quality support and protective intervention for vulnerable adults, families and carers. Manage a caseload of vulnerable adults, families and carers within statutory
guidelines and local quality standards. Work in conjunction with others to develop the quality of services provided by Adult Social Care-Services as part of the local aims for delivery of the full range of Adult’s Services.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the appropriate manager in discharging the full range of statutory duties and the Council's objectives, within the team which the post holder works, under the supervision, guidance and direction of the relevant manager.
Manage a caseload appropriate to the primary function of the team, acting as the case coordinator or ‘lead professional’, undertaking appropriate assessments, and contributing to and coordinating multi-agency multi disciplinary teams and/or conferences where appropriate.
Ensure that all service users including adults, families and carers are fully enabled to participate in planning and decision making concerning their own lives and that complaints and representations are dealt with effectively.
Participate in and contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the adult’s services, including providing oversight and support to other professionals.
Make sound professional and financial decisions in accordance with policies and procedures.
Ensure that work undertaken meets expectations as outlined in service unit and the Council's quality assurance and performance management systems.
Design and negotiate individual care packages, with the service user, their family or carers.
Undertake direct work with individual service users, their families and/or carers as part of an agreed plan, and within this promoting health and wellbeing.
Undertake a ‘Lead Professional’ role for every case allocated, ensuring timely, effective and efficient assessment, case plan management, and delivery of services to adults or carers.
Ensure that adults, families and carers are enabled to participate fully in planning and decision making.

Qualifications:
Professional qualifications, i.e. Degree in social work, CSS CQSW, Dip SW
Health and Care Professions Council Registration (or demonstrate a pending application)
Complete Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice (or hold PQ1) as Stage 1 of the Post Qualifying Social Work level 1, Safeguarding Investigators training, Best Interest Assessor and other statutory training as deemed appropriate
Knowledge:
Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities, legislation and guidance
Competent knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities whilst undertaking safeguarding investigations, as per policy and guidance
Excellent knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities when protecting vulnerable adults, families and carers
Knowledge of all relevant legislation, statutory guidance and regulations
Excellent knowledge of all relevant legislation, statutory guidance and regulations
Excellent knowledge of specialist work area for which responsible
Excellent knowledge of Mental Health and Mental Capacity legislation
Understanding of professional supervision and its role in promoting and maintaining quality of service
Understanding of ‘senior professional’ role in Adult’s Social Care and how this contributes to the overall working of the team and the service
Experience:
Relevant placement or occupational experience
Experience of working within an adult setting
Significant experience of working within an adult setting
Experience of managing a complex caseload in a relevant setting
Skills & Abilities:
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team/multi agency partnership
Ability to work as part of a team/multi agency partnership including providing leadership and managing professional conflict
Ability to undertake direct work with adults, families and carers
