About the Academy & Cabot Learning Federation
Sky Academy is a state funded special school for young people in years 5 – 11 who have an EHCP to support their SEMH and SCL needs. Based in Taunton our catchment of young people comes from those who live within a 75-minute drive across Somerset. At our core is a belief that every young person deserves the right to an educative experience that prepares them for adulthood and opens doors at Post 16. We do this by providing a targeted core curriculum that focuses in equal parts on literacy, numeracy, PSHCE, and PE in addition to a wider curriculum of Art, ICT, careers and LifeSkills. These areas are delivered as discreet subjects and offer the opportunity to gain a range of external accreditations as well as developing our young people’s mental and physical wellbeing. The curriculum at Sky is delivered both in and out of the classroom – with outdoor education, enrichment activities, forest school, art and development of emotional literacy and communication skills being an integral part of a young person’s experience.
The Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive pre-employment checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list. This role involves working with children daily and is therefore in regulated activity. Details of our Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy can be found here > ”
