Fluor’s office in Farnborough, Hampshire is one of the company’s main execution centres undertaking projects across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Farnborough itself has excellent transport links and is located 35 minutes from London via train.

Fluor is foreseeing an increase in workload in a number of different business sectors including:

• Energy transition projects including in battery materials, hydrogen and carbon capture
• Life Sciences & Advanced Manufacturing including in data centres and low carbon technologies
• Traditional Oil & Gas projects in upstream, downstream (refinery and petrochemicals) and LNG

Basic Job Requirements

The Role:
We are looking for talented and skilled Project Directors to join our Company.

The Project Director has responsibility of all related project activities and establishing a course of action within limits of company practices and guidelines. The Project Director performs the essential job duties and functions as listed below to deliver the project to the baseline that complies with the contract and ensures the safety, quality, value, timelines and Fluor profitability. The Project Director leads medium to large sized projects including engineering, procurement and construction

Preferred Qualifications

• Accredited degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study
• Chartered Engineering Status CEng is preferred
• Significant experience of project management experience in the EPCM industry
• Successful performance as Project Director on large to very large sized EPCM projects
• Flexible and willingness to travel to project sites
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
• Proven evidence in working effectively with the Client, project team members, management, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Experience with Scrum, Lean, Agile Methodologies or willingness to learn in practice

Other Job Requirements

Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Providing strong and effective project leadership
• Demonstrating innovation, initiative, maturity, and sound judgment
• Ensuring that project requirements for safety, quality, and productivity are met in all locations managed by Fluor where project work is being performed
• Maintaining effective client relations that result in active cooperation, prompt payment, and if possible, the award of follow-on work
• Establishing the Project Baseline as soon as feasible, as well as ensuring that it is fully documented, updated, and communicated to the project team as appropriate
• Establishing and maintaining a fully documented change control system that tracks all changes to the Contract and Project Baseline requirements or conditions
• Establishing and defining the project organization, defining the project staffing requirements, and coordinating staffing with supporting organization managers
• Establishing, communicating, implementing, and maintaining a current Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Project Procedures Manual (PPM)
• Executing the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project,
• Establishing a highly cost-effective project environment
• Managing and controlling the project’s cost and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place and functioning properly, including establishing a Project Structure (Work Breakdown Structure/Network/Network Activity), a quantitative approach to planning, reporting and control, and a change management system
• Providing coordination between design, procurement, and/or construction for integration of technical content and schedule activities
• Coordinating preparation and issuance of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages
• Coordinating design efforts with licensors, vendors, and/or subcontractors to ensure proper and complete integration with project plans
• Maintaining operationally consistent work processes that enable worksharing to be effectively executed between multiple offices and construction sites
• Ensuring that project invoices are submitted to the client in accordance with contract requirements and proactively following up on accounts receivable and the timely receipt of payment in order to minimize the cost of cash
• Keeping senior operations management of the Group fully informed on project status, including client relations, project cost and schedule, changes in risk assessment, anticipated changes in project financial performance, and any other major concerns
• Producing a status report of project activities that includes required financial reporting and participating in project reviews
• Ensuring that project records are identified, collected, indexed, filed, stored, and maintained (including Supplier records) in accordance with the Project File Index and Retention Schedule
