We are looking for a driven and commercially focused individual to join our Customer & Commercial Team as an Account Partnership Lead (Account Executive) to support and grow our business partnerships. About the role:
The Business and Partnerships team was formed to provide a robust response to get passengers back to utilising the railway and growing partnerships with other businesses. As an Account Executive, you will support the future growth of the team, by managing existing Customer Relationships and being at the forefront of seeking new partnership opportunities.
As we move into a new period of growth and revenue generation, there are still many challenges that you’ll face. You’ll have to be resilient and adaptable in your approach to the changing travel needs and demands of current and new business relationships. As well as showing value in Corporate Ticket Sales, during times of disruption within the railway.
Currently the Business & Partnership Team work with small percentage of businesses which operate along the Northern network. So, the potential to achieve is highly possible, if you have the determination to use your initiative and be proactive. Its not just about ticket sales, its about commercial opportunities and partnerships across the network and making those connections.
In this exciting but demanding role, based in Manchester, Leeds or York, you’ll join our dedicated and resilient team. You’ll need to match their motivation and drive, whilst sharing the team's goals and objectives of maximising Northern’s Business and Partnership revenue, by proactively seeking out new opportunities to grow revenue through constant prospecting and market awareness.

Key responsibilities:
As the Account Executive, you’ll be in a role which is exciting and demanding. Here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:
Managing a portfolio of corporate accounts and develop positive relationships with customers that allow management of their needs and providing insight for future expansion of sales.
Managing ‘project sales’ e.g. Group and Education Season in order to maximise revenue, improving process and customer experience and enhancing the project.
Generating new sales using existing and potential customer networks. Maximising opportunities to upsell/cross sell Northern products and services.
Producing quarterly customer newsletter to maintain regular contact with all customers.
Inputting into marketing briefs across sales products.
Reporting on the status of accounts and transactions, detailing sales and financial data including robust maintenance of data in Salesforce.
Setting and tracking sales account targets, aligned with company objectives.
Monitoring and reporting on sales metrics (e.g. quarterly sales results and annual forecasts).
Suggesting actions to improve sales performance, identify opportunities for growth and improve customer experience.
About you:
You will be a driven and highly motivated person, with a demonstrable experience in proactive sourcing of lead generation. You’ll show an enthusiasm for sales and have the tenacity to get the job done. You’ll be customer focused and target driven, with an eye for detail and a nose for opportunity. You’ll also be able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced, target orientated role. As well as having resilience to succeed in and amongst challenges in an ever changing environment.
We’re also looking for the following:
Essential:
Proven work experience in a sales or account management role
Hands on experience in proactive sales by telephone and in person
Experience in a target orientated environment.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to understand customer needs and convert them to opportunities.
Understanding of sales performance metrics (KPI’s)
Solid knowledge of CRM software and MS Office (MS Excel in particular)
An ability to deliver on time and to tight deadlines.
Good level of business acumen with a problem-solving attitude
Desirable:
Degree level qualification, preferably in business or transport
Experience working with customer insight and enacting change
