Here's what your role as an apprentice will involve:
- Developing your skills in a wide range of exciting projects
- Learning and using relevant design software
- Being involved in client meetings and assisting in building key client relationships
- You'll get to understand and learn digital skills, to help us harness technology in new ways
- Your mentors will support you as you study towards nationally recognised qualifications and accreditation
- You'll have dedicated time to spend at college or university to focus on your studies
The training you will be getting On completion, a Nuclear Scientist and Nuclear Engineer Degree Apprentice will be able to use the knowledge, skills and behaviours developed to enable systems and equipment to operate safely, efficiently and in an environmentally sustainable way, meeting the requirements set out by the employer and those of the Professional Body Institutions.
They will have a fundamental and core knowledge of engineering / science principles and practices and will be able to demonstrate discipline skills commensurate with their employed job role that typically will include design, plant performance enhancements, operational management, project management and maintenance of safety standards utilising analytical thinking to provide innovative solutions.
They will also demonstrate good communication and team skills and the ability to communicate in a variety of forms to all levels within an organisation.
The apprenticeship will typically be between 3-5 years to provide a balanced and comprehensive approach for work based learning and academic achievement to meet the requirements of the occupation role.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship The Science Council for Registered Scientist (RSci). Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and upon receipt of the apprenticeship certificate, individuals are eligible to apply for RSci through a shortened application route. Individuals also need to be a member of a professional body that is licensed by the Science Council to be awarded this status. Further information is on the Science Council'swebsite.
On completion of the apprenticeship, the nuclear scientist and nuclear engineer will be eligible to apply for professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) through an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution regulated by the Engineering Council.
