Job Purpose
The Grange School is seeking to appoint an experienced First Aider. In this role you will be responsible for the assessment of student and staff medical needs and welfare, administering front-line first aid and undertaking associated administration and records maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Act as first aider to all staff & students, who are feeling unwell or are injured in any part of school.
- Promptly respond to all on-call requests as the main first aider
- Administer first aid to students and staff
- Liaise with other Student Support Services where necessary.
- To supervise students in self-administering of prescription and non-prescription drugs, keeping accurate records up to date at all times.
- Liaise with parents, guardians or carers prior to provision of drugs to students.
- To maintain a register of students who attend the First Aid facilities and recording their needs and provision, then provide information when requested.
- Contact parents, guardians or carers as necessary concerning the welfare of all students and ensure that this is recorded and shared with the relevant staff, such as Form Tutors, head of years and the Attendance office.
- Ensure when students are sent out of school for medical reasons they have permission from their parent/carer.
- Attend emergency medical incidents wherever they occur in the School and undertake whatever action necessary to stabilise and assist the casualty, which may include calling the emergency services.
- Travel in the ambulance with the injured person to hospital as required by the School.
The Person - Experience, Training & Qualifications
- Hold an in date Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification
- Confident with working with pupils aged 4-18
- Approachable, calm & caring persona
The post holder will be expected to carry out such other duties as reasonably correspond to the general character of the post and are commensurate with its level of responsibility.
