Job description
Overview:
Welcome to the Boots Internal Communications team – it’s an exciting time in the heart of the organisation!
As an Internal Communications Specialist you will support the ongoing successful delivery of the Boots UK and No7 Beauty Company internal communication strategy. You will ensure the business can connect, engage, and inspire its team members. You will advise and partner with those who also need to communicate with large groups of our colleagues. In this role, you will look at exciting and innovative ways to inform our people, grow engagement, and inspire team member advocacy across multiple campaigns and projects.
Meaningful and effective internal communications are at the heart of our culture – and this role is key to ensuring we connect with all our team members in the right ways at the right times, and enable our people to thrive at work and connect with each other.
This role needs someone who loves shaping and delivering bold and engaging team member communications in a fast-paced environment. You will have a proven track record of successfully using communications and engagement tools, tactics and techniques. With a creative mindset, great planning and curiosity, you bring projects and campaigns to life, both digitally and face-to-face.
You will report to the Head of Internal Communications and have no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and deliver creative and engaging communication campaigns supporting our commercial strategic priorities and HR-led projects.
- Support and deliver professional written, visual and digital content across Boots and No7BC’s internal channels.
- Create opportunities to support great conversations between leaders, managers and team members through our core internal communication channels.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of our comms activities and channels and use your learnings as the basis for ongoing improvement.
- Support with the successful delivery of business-as-usual communications activity.
- Prioritise relationships with your key stakeholders and actively build and develop them.
- Use your strong interpersonal skills, confidence and emotional intelligence to work better and more effectively with your peers, senior/external stakeholders and influencers, maintaining a network across the organisation. In particular, you will be working closely with our Marketing, HR and Studio and Content teams.
- Use your advanced planning and organisational skills to pre-empt stakeholder needs, plan comms in advance, and to always be thinking one step ahead, to yield best results.
What you’ll need to have:
- You have excellent writing and verbal skills and a strong command of the English language.
- You have a passion for storytelling, creative use of language, visuals, flair and tone of voice to create compelling content in engaging formats.
- You’re a newshound, and love connecting with people on a personal level to unearth meaningful stories and content – and bring them to life in a considered, responsible way.
- Creative and with an eye for design. You can create engaging content using Adobe Creative Suite, and will turn your hand to other platforms if required.
- You’re technically competent with an excellent working knowledge of social media and digital technology.
- You use your planning and organisation skills to manage your workload, on-time delivery, and expectations of those you work with.
It’d be great if you’re also:
- Resilient and reliable, able to work quickly and stay calm under pressure, and to deadlines.
- A relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills – someone who works well with peers and with senior/external stakeholders.
- Aware of the broader internal comms industry, you seek information and examples of what other companies IC teams are doing, and you know what internal communications best practice looks like.
- Curious and brave – you aren’t afraid to try new things.
- Able to naturally motivate colleagues and work well as part of a cross-functional team.
- A team player, open and transparent, and you thrive when you’re collaborating. But you are also self-sufficient and able to work independently – you can get the job done with minimal direction and supervision.
- Flexible and not fazed by having to respond quickly and professionally to unexpected tasks – which may include activities not part of your usual remit.
Hybrid working (3 set days in the office):
We offer our Support Office team members a 3/2 hybrid working approach, based upon empowerment, accountability, care, and trust, which includes a mix of remote and office-based working – our set office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and WFH days are Monday and Friday.
