In 2021, Next Plc and Gap were delighted to enter into a joint venture, trading the well-loved Gap brand within the UK. We are looking for Merchandise Assistants to be part of the joint venture business supporting the brand as it operates within the Next Plc group.

About the Job
Without our Merchandisers, there would be no product in our stores and on our website! The Gap Merchandising team ensures that we have the right products, in the right place, at the right time and in the right quantities. This role is responsible for maximising the profitability of each line working closely with the US teams and suppliers to plan and build our fabulous product ranges.
Within this role you will…
- Be instrumental in the order management and raising process. From sizing effectively using analysis to accurately raising products on our systems, ensuring products get in the business on time to support sales. You will also be responsible for updating our relevant documents with any order amends from the US.
- Intake management is key to the MAA role. As an MAA you will work with the AM’s to manage the delivery schedule and intake vs planned dates or key product launches. Liaising with supply chain and franchise to support on time delivery will be key to this role.
- Getting stock live on our site rapidly is key to driving sales. Your role is crucial in facilitating this by working with our Next site opps, shoot and US team to chase imagery,product info and get our styles onsite in time.
- Optimising our products online is a focus in this role to support web sales growth. Your role will involve ensuring each product is presented to our customers effectively through description, colour and match back linking as well as ensuring the relevant and key searched product attributes are there against each style. Working with Site opps and Next TP teams will be a major part in this role.
- Our store portfolio is expanding. As an MAA you will support ad hoc analysis where required to drive our sales and contribute to its success.
- Pricing plays a part in the MAA role also. It is key to a positive customer experience. Your role will include actioning any relevant price changes systematically to support this.
- Trade kick starts our week and delving into lessons learnt to drive the business. As an MAA you will support pulling together packs and analysis to aid decision making on the team. We encourage all team members to participate in trade , presenting back any findings and lessons learnt.
- As an MAA you will build on competitor and Gap product knowledge to support day to day trading.

- Strong attention to detail, a passion for numbers and product is a focus.
- Good teamwork, communication and time management skills are vital
- An individual who thrives in a fast paced environment
- Experience in a retail environment is an advantage but not essential.
- Excel and systems are key to the day to day. A passion for numbers and problem solving is key.
