Composites Finisher
£28,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience) per annum
Berinsfield

Responsible For:
  • Finishing GRP mouldings for boat construction, including trimming, preparation, polishing, gel coat repairs, and assembly of moulded components.
General Description:
As a member of our client's finishing team, you will work on a variety of products, focusing on the finishing and repair of gel coat surfaces and GRP composite mouldings. Your goal will be to produce high-quality finished components for their busy boat manufacturing line. You should possess the knowledge and experience required to carry out gel coat repairs, trimming, filling, fairing, and polishing to a high standard. Working efficiently and effectively is essential in meeting our production requirements.

Main Duties:
  • Inspect and identify defects that require work
  • Repair gel coat surfaces to eliminate imperfections and joint lines caused by split mould tools
  • Fair surfaces to ensure smoothness
  • Polish gel coat surfaces to achieve a high level of finish
  • Trim GRP components using air saws, routers, and diamond cutting discs when necessary
  • Sand and finish cut edges using abrasive papers
  • Uphold high standards of workmanship
  • Assist in other areas of the manufacturing process as directed by the Team Leader
  • Provide training to personnel, including new production operatives, as needed
  • Maintain a tidy workstation and work area as part of basic housekeeping duties
  • Take accountability for your own work
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly
  • Adhere to company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and report any deficiencies
Ancillary Duties:
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as required by senior management
  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience in finishing GRP or paint finishing/detailing
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Strong team player, capable of working independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to work within deadlines in a time-conscious manner
  • Preferred previous experience in the Marine industry or a similar high-quality driven industry
Hours:
  • 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm), 30-minute lunch break
