Job description

Temporary positions are available for four Beach Wardens to work along the coast and beaches of North Tyneside, between June and September 2024.

You will be required to assist in maintaining North Tyneside Council’s beaches and coastal infrastructure to the standards required to attain the international Blue Flag Awards and the National Seaside Awards administered by Keep Britain Tidy.

The post will involve dealing with education, Enforcement and the issuing of fixed penalty notices regarding legislation relating to Public Spaces Protection Orders, Environmental Protection Act and dealing with low level antisocial behaviour issues.

You will need to be able to work independently and use your own initiative working proactively with all members of the wider team including external agencies and the public.

A disposition to promote high standards of customer care and communication skills will be required to provide a safe, clean, tidy, and enjoyable coastal environment.  You will be an integral member of Local Environmental Services Team ensuring North Tyneside is a great place to live, work and visit.

Successful applicants will work one of 2 shifts covering 7 days per week and be expected to work outdoors on the resort beaches and coastline of North Tyneside for several hours per day to carry out their duties.
