Job description

We need a Treasurer to fulfil the essential role of securing the financial future of Woodley Village Hall. Currently our trustees are all fairly new, so an experienced Treasurer would be invaluable.

What will you be doing?

The Treasurer has to ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place, with opportunities to improve our current practices. Regular liaison with our Bookings Secretary and attendance at committee meetings is required. You will need to provide financial oversight, supporting the Chair with financial advice and acting as a sounding board, and use your financial expertise to report and interpret financial information for the other Trustees, who do not come from financial backgrounds, to reach financial decisions.

As a Trustee and one of our management committee, we would appreciate another member willing to look into and help with short or long term projects, fund raising and procurement of services.

We can give you an introduction to the role and our Chair is also willing to discuss the role with you if you would like more information.

This role is currently vacant and we wish to have someone on-board asap.

What are we looking for?

Essential skills: 

• Confident with accounts and budgeting
• Ability to use Excel, or other financial spreadsheets, to maintain our financial records is essential.
• Good communication skills as you would be expected to contribute to discussions concerning the overall management of the hall.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience using Microsoft SharePointProcurementFund-raisingRisk managementTeam-orientated approach to problem solving.Experience of serving on a committee of a small charity.

What difference will you make?

The role of Treasurer is so important to us - not only do we need someone to keep us on track financially but, in these challenging times, we are looking for ways to generate more income to provide the community with better, safer facilities. As new trustees, we are still learning and finding our way, dealing with the most immediate problems as they arise. If we could be on a sounder financial footing, we could look further ahead and aim to achieve more for the hall and the community.
