Job description
Working under supervision from nursing staff, provide nursing care as part of the multi-disciplinary team to patients attending the unit. Communicating with and referring to other healthcare professionals as necessary. Welcome patients and visitors, directing specific enquiries, to nursing or medical staff. To act as patients chaperone where necessary, for medical examinations in clinics. Assist patients with dressing and undressing maintaining the dignity and privacy of the patient at all times. At all times work in a way that eliminates the risk of infection to patients. Follows the trust's control of infection and hand washing policies Measuring patients weight and height and record this on the appropriate documentation. To procure and safely send-off clinical specimens as requested by the nurse or doctor To assist medical and nursing staff with clinical procedures Adhere to unit protocols and policies. To be actively involved in delivering a high standard of individualised holistic patient care to promote and maintain all aspects of his / her physical, social, cultural and psychological wellbeing. To have a basic understanding and awareness of the different cancers treated at the cancer centre.
