Salary 100,000 + Car Allowance + 25 Days Holiday + Pension
Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading multi–disciplinary property and construction consultancy based near Winchester who is searching for a Commercial Director to join the business.
The company was established over 35 years ago and they undertake Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Building Surveying and Employers Agent services and work with a wide range of clients including Private Individuals, Developers, Private Companies and Public Sector organisations.
The role of the Commercial Director:
The Commercial Director will report to the Managing Director and will be responsible for managing a small team and ensuring the effective administration of all aspects of pre and post contract quantity surveying duties whilst ensuring rigid cost control to minimise the costs of the project and enhance value for money, whilst still achieving the required standards and quality.
Overview of Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial delivery of construction projects.
- Ensure the preparation of tender and contract documents, schedules of work and cost plans.
- Ensure the performance of risk, value management and cost control.
- Prepare and analyse tender costs making recommendations where appropriate.
- When required, take on the role of Contract Administrator and where necessary combine the role with that of the QS, ensuring all aspects of administration is undertaken in an exceptionally organised manner.
- Assist the Operations Director with the preparation of fee proposals.
- Set an example of professionalism whilst portraying the business in a positive manner both internally and externally to customers and project stakeholders.
Skills Required for the Commercial Director:
- Consultancy experience with strong commercial awareness and excellent technical skills with a willingness to share knowledge and experience with others.
- Continually keep updated on industry changes and developments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills which facilitate positive and professional relationships with colleagues, clients and key project stakeholders.
- Client focused with the ability to meet, and exceed, client expectations.
- Strong track record in a consultancy Quantity Surveying role, including cost management of building projects, feasibility/option studies, detailed cost planning, post contract cost management.
- Thorough understanding of the principal standard forms of Building Contracts including JCT or NEC3.
- Good Microsoft and other relevant software skills.
- Membership of a professional body (RICS, CIOB, APM) would be an advantage.
- 5 years post qualification experience within a consultancy practice.
- Able to travel to site and attend meetings.
