TUI Group is the world’s number one integrated tourism business. Within TUI Group, TUI Airline regroups all airline activities across UK, Nordics, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Morocco, France, and the Dutch Antilles. Airline Finance is a function within our airline organisation responsible for supporting the business to ensure accurate and timely reporting of actuals, forecasts and budgets; and business partnering the Aviation Planning department and Tour Operator. The Finance function operates as a multi-disciplinary team of experts driving efficiency and innovation.
As Finance Analyst – Pricing, your focus will be to develop, manage, and improve the accurate transfer pricing of all Northern Region Airline costs to our Tour Operators as well as the production of end-to-end profitability of flown routes.
In this role, you’ll report to the Finance Manager – Pricing.
As Finance Analyst – Pricing, you’ll be responsible for:
• Airline pricing rounds are mini budgets that translate to a cost per seat that we communicate to Tour Operators. Developing a strong knowledge of the cost base, the key drivers and current allocation methods is necessary in succeeding in this role.
• Create contracted airline cost per seat per destination rates (seat rates) that are charged to internal and external Tour Operators (circa 18 months in advance of the season starting)
• Form strong relationships with key finance and non-finance colleagues so that they provide you with the necessary information required in a timely manner to enable you to deliver the contracted seat rates. You will be expected to develop a detailed understanding of the commercials underpinning any numbers that you have been provided with to enable you to be able to tell the “strategic story” or to challenge any assumptions that do not align to what you are expecting.
• Create ad hoc seat rates (e.g. new routes, re-routes)
• Present the proposed seat rates to senior Airline Board members for sign off highlighting capacity and fleet movements, operational efficiencies and inefficiencies that have driven cost, commercial reasoning behind the numbers that have been calculated, the impact of rate and FX, plus any other factors that may impact the seat rates calculated.
Support the Aviation Planning team and Tour Operator by providing insight and analysis into the profitability of flown routes highlighting any deviations from the original pricing for the budget, forecast and end of season. To do this effectively you will need to understand how unforeseen costs and revenues have impacted the overall profitability by flown route, communicating your outcome to the Aviation Planning Department and Commercial finance teams to support the decision making on routes we should fly.
• Understand and be comfortable with large data sets; interrogate and analyse data proficiently and meaningfully with the ability to be able to see bigger picture; and liaise with and present back to a variety of stakeholders at all levels in an effective and precise way.
• Consistently challenge processes to ensure efficiency and drive simplification in the end-to-end process whilst keeping the wide range of stakeholders engaged and informed of progress.
• Understand the information already available through month end actuals and systems in order to make route profitability more automated and timely to aid decision making and flag any potential issues.
• Logical and analytical approach to working with large data sets and a good eye for detail.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint including creating meaningful and engaging presentations.
• Knowledge of Tableau or other data management systems is a plus.
• Diligent worker with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to use own initiative to problem-solve.
• Ability to shape and change processes with a can-do, positive attitude.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
• Commercial pricing experience desirable
• ACCA / CIMA part -qualified accountant or at least 3 years of proven experience working in Finance/Commercial is a plus.
• Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some international travel.
