About the Role

Stort Valley Healthcare islooking to recruit an experienced advanced clinical practitioner to join our busy team at the Integrated Urgent Treatment Centre (IUTC) at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, on a full or part time basis covering the shifts below: 08.00-16:00 or 16:00-00:00  Monday to Friday with the potential to join a staff bank for ad hoc shifts (weekdays and weekends), as and when available.

These exciting new posts are integral to the successful delivery of the IUTC, a ground-breaking collaboration between PAH and community providers in Herts and West Essex. The service will support the NHS long term ambition of preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and ensuring delivery of care by the right person, in the right place at the right time.

The main duties include:

• Work autonomously in assessing diagnosing, treating and evaluating care for patients presenting with a minor illness, acting within the parameters of their Code of Professional Conduct and Trust guidelines.
• Demonstrate safe, competent, clinical decision making and expert patient care, to provide a service to meet the needs of the patients who attend the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). As an autonomous practitioner the post holder will provide holistic health care for patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
• Work closely with colleagues at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Triage, Minor injuries and Emergency Department. Building strong communication links to facilitate a seamless patient journey and to ensure that the service delivers the best possible high-quality patient led care which is dynamic, proactive, anticipatory, innovative, safe and responsive to health needs.

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

• Professional registration with NMC, HCPC or appropriate professional registration.
• Masters in Advanced Clinical practitioner (Emergency Care) or appropriate relevant experience.
• Academic studies (LEVEL 2/3 OR M) in Minor illness modules.
• Independent non-medical prescriber.
• Demonstrate responsibility for establishing the interpretation of policies within the team ensuring team members have the same understanding and guidance on implementation.
• Ability to organise the swift flow of patients through the unit safely & effectively.
• Experience in assessing, diagnosing and implementing treatment and interventions for patients presenting with undifferentiated diagnosis.
• Extensive post registration experience.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels with patients and carers, specialist services, GPs and colleagues.
• Able to work independently and prioritise own workload.
• Experience in minor illness.
• Ability to produce accurate and complete records of patient records consistent with policy and procedures.

About Us

The Integrated Urgent Treatment Centre (IUTC) is a GP led service supported by Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) for minor illness. It is based at Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) in Harlow and is delivered in collaboration with local system partners, including Stellar Health Care, Stort Valley Healthcare, EPUT, HCT, HUC PAH and the ICB. The designated service operates 365 days a year, 08:00 – 00:00 seven days a week including bank holidays. 

About Stort Valley Healthcare: Stort Valley Healthcare, the Federation, is the joint Lead Provider responsible for running the IUTC. As part of the collaboration, Stort Valley Healthcare is responsible for employing and providing staff.  Benefits include free staff car parking.
