You will be able to find a full Job description and Person Specification attached within the supporting documents or please click Apply now to view in Trac Work as part of a multi disciplinary team Assist with creating a welcoming, caring and safe environment within the services delivered Assist Nursing Staff within the service in the preparation for and participation in various clinical settings including: Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and Gynaecology Day Assessment. This will require moderate amount of physical effort e.g. bending, cleaning surfaces, stocking cupboards Act as a chaperone and assist the Doctor / Nurse during clinical examinations / procedures, as appropriate and as requested, ensuring correct labelling of all samples with accurate information regarding the clients details e.g. reference number and date of birth. This will require moderate concentration on each shift and may require long periods of standing Be responsible for setting up the various clinics, ensuring that all equipment, stationary and literature is available. To maintain stock cupboards and ensure adequate supplies, ensuring stock is rotated, used and distributed within expiry dates in accordance with Trust policy. Identify equipment not in good working order, reporting any faults to the nurse in charge Expand IT skills and operate the necessary IT clinic systems or equivalent data basis. Requiring moderate periods of concentration using IT equipment during each week Assist patients with personal needs and ensure security, privacy and dignity is maintained during every procedure. Assist Medical and Nursing staff as required in all clinical areas. The post holder may be involved with emotional issues during a shift i.e. may be present during the breaking of bad news. Undertake a range of clerical duties e.g. the filing of clients results into their notes, photocopying, clerking in clinical areas; e.g. making up of client notes, entering clients onto Myrddin systems as required during the week and directed by the departmental/team manager. This requires a moderate amount of physical and mental effort Participate in the supervision and training of new health care assistants Keep up-to-date with fire precautions and act as the Department Fire Warden, as directed by the nurse in charge and be fully conversant with fire drills and the procedure for evacuating the clinical areas in both hospital and community settings. Practice under supervision a range of routine procedures, which require a basic level of knowledge e.g. recording and documenting client observations, ensuring accurate measurements and recording of blood pressure, weight, height, Body Mass Index, pregnancy testing, urine testing recording findings and reporting to qualified staff as necessary. The post holder will be exposed to bodily fluids on a frequent basis, possibly each shift. Escort patients when required to other wards or departments. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the principles of the Data Protection Act / VD Act at all times Work as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team fostering good communication and working relations with colleagues from all disciplines often dealing with sensitive and emotive problems ensuring signposting to correct medical professional/clinic for ongoing management. Attend and participate in staff meetings for the service, on a regular basis as requested Carry out receptionist duties, answer the telephone in a polite and professional manner, and to make sure no information is given to the caller without consulting a qualified member of staff. Respond to enquiries appertaining to the department in an efficient and friendly manner both verbally and face to face contact. Maintain effective communication with the departmental/team manager to ensure seamless care Arrange transport for specimen collection. Triage patients when booking of appointments Possess good organisational skills. Be experienced in basic IT skills including Word Processing Will ensure that all positive results are directed to the appropriate senior member of staff for action. Ensure ongoing training needs are met. Undertake the input of computer data relevant IT systems. Also to undertake IT training as and when required. Ensure that all requests or patient information received, either verbally or written are acknowledged promptly and referred appropriately to respective areas Use their judgment to analyse difficult situations Ensure that all pathology results are made available for signing by appropriate staff and delegated to appropriate areas. Be responsible for all clinics being equipped with correct and up to date stationery/paperwork. Monitor GP/clinical referrals within the service including satellite clinics Ensure that pathology/scan results is presented to medical/nursing staff for appropriate action and once action completed filed appropriately in the correct patient notes Ensure that all information is processed and handled appropriately and that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times. Ensure the availability of patient notes at all clinics (base and satellite) ensuring tracer system is maintained and updated Be responsible for planning and organising own work load Prepare notes for clinics and file notes appropriately Be prepared to work in a variety of settings which involves travelling between place of work Will be required to use manual handling techniques when manoeuvring patients. Act in accordance to legal and statutory guidance and comply with all Health Board Policies and Procedures Maintain personal standards of Health & Safety and security Be aware of careful use of resources Be aware of how to report faults. Participate in collecting and collating patient information within the service, as requested for audit purposes Carry out a range of duties with direct supervision always available. The post holder will be accountable for their own actions and at no time will the post holder work outside of his/her competencies
