Job description

As a Palliative Medicine Doctor, you will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate and comprehensive medical care to patients facing serious illnesses. This challenging yet fulfilling role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families through expert symptom management, emotional support, and end-of-life care planning. By joining our team, you'll contribute to a multidisciplinary approach aimed at alleviating suffering and providing the best possible quality of life for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the medical, psychological, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in coordination with a multidisciplinary team, adjusting as patient needs evolve.
- Provide expert symptom management to relieve pain and other distressing symptoms while considering the patient's wishes and ethical considerations.
- Facilitate family conferences to discuss goals of care, advance care planning, and complex decision-making processes.
- Engage in ongoing communication with primary care providers, specialists, and ancillary services to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care.
- Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals in palliative care principles and practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Medical degree with completed residency in Palliative Medicine or a related specialty.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), including a licence to practise.
- Demonstrated experience in palliative care, hospice care, or related fields.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medical information to patients and families compassionately and clearly.
- Empathy, patience, and a strong desire to support patients during challenging times.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Palliative Medicine.
- Experience in research activities related to palliative care or pain management.
