What skills and experience we are looking for:
At Balance AP, we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Behaviour Mentor to join our team. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in providing support and guidance to students in Key Stage 3 and 4 who may have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. To excel in this role, we are looking for someone who possesses the following skills and experience:
- Passionate: A genuine passion for working with children, especially those with SEMH needs.
- Enjoy working with children: Demonstrated ability to engage positively with young people and create a supportive learning environment.
- Understanding and empathetic: Able to understand and empathise with the challenges students with SEMH needs may face.
- Strong with behaviour: Solid understanding of behaviour management strategies and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Leader: Confident in taking a leadership role when required and providing guidance to students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver specific targeted interventions to promote social, emotional and mental wellbeing.
- To ensure that all mentoring programmes provide a range of strategies that will motivate, challenge and empower further learning and ensure students make positive changes.
- Support learning and personal development through 1-1 mentoring, group sessions and specialise enrichment programmes.
- Provide ongoing support for students inside and outside of the classroom.
- Develop and implement individual plans that challenge inappropriate behaviour, build
- positive self-image, enhance educational achievement and reduce the likelihood of
- exclusion.
- Communicate with an extended range of networks and partnerships include other schools and
- parents to broker support and learning opportunities and improve the quality of
- provisions for students.
- Use behaviour management strategies effectively and in line with the provision’s policy
- and procedures, and fully contribute to a professional and purposeful learning environment.
- To drive to collect and drop off students in the School Minibus daily. A full, clean driver’s licence is a requirement.
