Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic teacher to join our exceptional pastoral team. USH is a heavily oversubscribed community school with just over 1050 students and 140 staff. We are incredibly proud of our family ethos and our success in delivering values-led education. Our students are vibrant, aspirational and well-behaved.

Heads of Year lead a year group, attached to which is a member of SLT; each year group has eight tutor groups. To further support the pastoral team, a Pastoral Support Workers is attached to each year group. Our Inclusion team work closely with each year group, providing daily support and medium term interventions to support them to be school ready.

The successful candidates will:

• Champion all students and develop a supportive inclusive culture.
• Be highly motivated.
• Have a high expectation for all students.
• Be able to utilise excellent communication skills to develop a close partnership with students, parents and staff to help students achieve their very best.
• Have a good understanding of the importance of the role of the tutor and experience of ensuring highly effective tutoring to support all students.
• Have experience of using data to identify under-achieving students as well as utilising strategies to target measurable improvements.
• Be able to demonstrate good outcomes for all students with a clear understanding of the required support and intervention for pupil premium and vulnerable students.
• Be highly organised, demonstrating how they can balance high expectations in the classroom alongside the role of a Head of Year.
