Job description

This is an exciting new role within Working Age Adult Community Mental Health Team (WAA CMHT) for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist in mental health. During a time of change and partnership working with multiple organisations in line with Community Mental Health Transformation, LYPFT are looking to develop an OT specific pathway within the WAA CMHT that will have seamless transition across community services and specialist/acute services within LYPFT. The post holder will have a key role in supporting with development of staff clinical skills for the WAA CMHT OT workforce, following evidence based and best practice principles. They will work directly with clinical teams in providing training, clinical/professional supervision to staff both as a group and as individuals using tailored development support as required using competency frameworks. A key part of the role will be developing support structures for the development of OT staff to aid job retention and career development within the service. Support and promote the development of clinical skills for the WAA CMHT OT workforce, following evidence based and best practice principles. Work directly with clinical teams in providing training, clinical/professional supervision to staff both as a group and as individuals using tailored development support as required. To provide strong leadership and facilitation, supporting teams with continued learning and development in line with key national incentives. To provide strong leadership, role modelling and guide, support and develop the skills of the OT workforce across the service. This post has a pivotal role in providing an Occupational Therapy perspective to the delivery of the enhanced element of the community mental health hubs in accordance with Community Mental health Transformation. The post holder will develop innovative ways to increasing the OT workforce across the service develop profession specific care pathway with support from the operational managers and LYPFT AHP professional leads and have a key role in maintaining and overseeing this profession specific pathway whilst also embracing OTs to work as a generic keyworker for service users requiring complex case management. Have a key role in co-ordinating inductions for new OTs into the service supporting with individual development either through a preceptorship programme and/or to develop senior clinical skills To work closely with clinical team managers and practice development colleagues within the service Ensure a robust support package is in place for both students and rotational OTs across the service.
