About the role
Ecclesiastical Insurance , who are proudly part of Benefact Group , are looking for a Technical Underwriting Consultant to join our Gloucester office.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a head office function to promote, develop and implement the Company's underwriting philosophy and strategy through the successful delivery of a variety of underwriting functions to maximize performance and achieve company objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Maintain and govern the underwriting processes for the Underwriting Department
- Manage non-system operational workflow tools used by the market facing underwriting teams
- Provide support for the Group Insurance placement working with Group Strategy and our other entities across a number of territories
- Delivery and oversight of ELTO and historic policy tracing procedures to ensure compliance
- Maintenance of Terrorism reconciliation including annual returns.
- Underwriting risk profile ownership and maintenance of the risk log
- Manage framework for underwriting third party suppliers ensuring compliance with procurement procedures and requirements
- Manage audits undertaken by third parties as required
- Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business.
- Support the Underwriting Operations Team Manager and Underwriting Performance Manager with their role objectives as needed
- Research and maintain an awareness of market conditions, practice and legislation, making appropriate recommendations by identifying opportunities in order to maximize business performance
- Lead or support defined pieces of work end to end within agreed timescales
- Pro-actively identify areas for process improvement and efficiency savings.
- Support other key tasks within the Underwriting Operations Team such as reinsurance maintenance, Reporting, XOL, Auditing as well as the wider Underwriting Department
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Dip CII or working towards
- Strong Excel knowledge or a willingness to learn
- Experience of influencing stakeholders within underwriting and wider business areas
- Systems and analytical experience
- 10 years plus within commercial insurance industry
- Proven ability to coach/train for enhanced performance of others
- Proven underwriting and technical background
