Job description

TRFS is committed to paying 40 pence per hour above the Scottish Government’s Living Wage declared 2024/25 rate for Social Care. This means from April 2024 we intend to pay £12.40ph (£0.40ph above the Scottish Government’s committed rate).

Our fabulous Team in LyleHS are on the lookout for a caring and understanding individual with a positive attitude to join them as a Support Practitioner on a full-time basis (39 hours per week).

You don’t need previous experience in care to join our team as we recruit on values and transferable skills. We provide full training along with the opportunity for you to complete your SVQ.

The Role

You’ll be joining a friendly and dedicated team who provide support to 6 individuals in their own homes who have mild to moderate Learning Disabilities, complex needs and behaviours of concern. As a Support Practitioner you will assist with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling and personal care.

As well as helping the people we support in their own homes, you’ll also provide emotional support and support them to maintain relationships with family and friends. We’ll be looking to you to take an active interest in their hobbies, which can include going out for lunches and shopping to watching to football, going bowling or to their favourite clubs. Some of the individuals we support attend college and volunteer.

The list is endless but the most important role you will play, is supporting individuals with their independence and being an active part of their local community.

To be part of our team, we’ll need you to:

Have an empathetic and caring nature.
Good observation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Confidence in using computers.
Be able to work well in a team environment and on your own.
Good organisational skills.

Shift Patterns

Our dedicated team provide tailored support for each individual and shifts will be made up of early and back shifts. Dependant on support needs you may be supporting up to 3 individuals during a shift who live close together.
