Job description
The University of Sussex is seeking to make the appointment to the post of Senior Sustainability Policy and Performance Manager to play the crucial role in the delivery of the University’s Sustainability Strategy.
The University of Sussex is a leading higher education and research institution. The first of the new wave of UK universities founded in the 1960s, receiving its Royal Charter in 1961, Sussex is a successful, growing University which is in the top 10 in the UK and top 50 in the world in both the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings and the QS Sustainability Rankings. The University has a beautiful and diverse estate located in Falmer, to the east of Brighton and Hove. It is situated in the South Downs National Park and has amongst its buildings a core heritage estate designed by Sir Basil Spence.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape all aspects of sustainability policy to achieve our vision of being one of the most sustainable universities in the world. Working directly to the Head of Sustainability you will develop policy and provide advice and guidance, as the lead subject matter expert on a broad range of sustainability policy areas including: sustainable business travel; active and sustainable commuting; waste reduction reuse and recycling; sustainable food and agriculture; biodiversity net gain; student experience and education; research practices; and sustainable supply chain and investments.
The successful candidate will have proven experience of developing strategies, polices and plans relating to sustainability across a diverse spectrum of areas. We are seeking an individual with good analytical skills and the ability to manage and report on data relating to sustainability performance.
