Post Title: Associate Assistant Principal – Education with Character 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full Time, permanent. 

Salary: United Learning PayScale £49,884 - £58,781 

Reporting to: Assistant Principal – Curriculum  

Conditions of Service : United Learning Contract 

Salford City Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint an Associate Assistant Principal with responsibility for Education with Character. The Education with Character programme at Salford City Academy is an essential driver of the personal development of students and the United Learning philosophy of developing ‘the best in everyone’. Our character offer ensures students experience exciting opportunities that challenge them and allow them to experience new things, explore their interests and develop their talents.

The Associate Assistant Principal will lead over the programme for extracurricular opportunities, our Academy charter including rewards, enrichment days, student leadership and our carbon neutral agenda. Education with Character is vitally important to Salford City Academy in ensuring that students are supported to develop both academically and in terms of their character traits. We are looking for someone who can take an already fantastic provision which is highly regarded trust-wide as a flagship school for character education to the next level through their inspirational and transformative leadership. 

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and cohesive senior leadership team, leading over an extremely important and valued area of the academy. The senior leadership team is highly visible and extremely supportive.

We believe passionately that students should learn in a disruption free environment. Our expectations of behaviour are very high, and we believe that all of our students are capable of meeting them. We accept no excuses for disruption to learning or poor behaviour. We have a very clear and well-structured behaviour system which supports this. 

Excellent continuous professional development and collaboration

Salford City Academy is committed to professional development; all staff are expected to actively participate in a programme of continuing professional development (CPD).  We need to make sure that we have the right people in the right place, doing the job that is needed to build excellent provision for our children and young people. Staff are supported professionally to ensure they can do that and are valued and recognised for their work. We have an extensive professional development programme within the academy, where staff are involved in reflective practice, coaching, weekly deliberate practice and CPD focused on academy, subject and individual priorities.  

United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. Our approaches within the academy support this so that our main focus can be on planning and delivering high quality teaching and learning. For example, all behaviour and detentions are managed centrally by the Inclusion Team. This allows teachers the time and capacity to deliver high quality lessons and supports their workload and well-being
