Job description

Key Responsibilities To follow practice protocols to ensure consistent and high quality care is provided to our patients To format and correct typed referrals, or referrals generated via the dictation software To ensure that referrals are on the correct forms and are correct in terms of spelling, grammar and punctuation To type letters, reports and associated documentation as required To process referrals via the NHS e-Referral Service, ensuring that referrals are sent to the correct service in a timely manner To email referrals which cannot be sent via the NHS e-Referral Service via the team generic email account To check the NHS e-Referral Service system to ensure that referrals have been submitted successfully To be aware of referral pathways and assist the clinicians in ensuring referrals are made to the most appropriate service Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently To manage all enquires in an effective manner To assist patients with referral queries and liaising with external agencies such as hospitals, secondary care and community services to check status of referrals To complete tasks sent by the clinical staff relating to letters and referrals To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries To provide cover for members of the referral team during periods of sickness and annual leave To input data into the patient's healthcare records as necessary General administration duties such as photocopying, scanning documentation and filing of patient records To undertake any other administrative tasks as reasonably delegated to by doctors or management
