A Vacancy at Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join our experienced and dynamic Community Neuro Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) which includes the Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) service. This post is based in the heart of Richmond.

You will be part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team providing a rehabilitation service to neurologically impaired adults in the Borough of Richmond. You will also assess and manage patients with a non-neurological diagnosis for dysphagia. You will be involved with training and education for patients, carers and care home staff.

The post is based in a modern and well-resourced rehabilitation facility. You will see patients in their homes and the outpatient clinic. You will work independently and as part of an experienced team of Speech and Language Therapists as well as neuro specialist Nursing and Therapists.

The successful applicant will have previously worked in the NHS and will bring experience of working in neuro rehabilitation and management of dysphagia. With the support of senior clinicians you will have the opportunity to further develop your communication and dysphagia skills within this specialist team.

You will be enthusiastic, dynamic, flexible and a team player. You will be encouraged to contribute to ongoing service development. The Trust offers opportunities to be involved in audit and research.

A car owner is recommended.

Key responsibilities:
• To hold responsibility for own caseload, working without direct supervision.
• To work as an autonomous member of the speech and language therapy team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective and efficient service.
• To work closely with other members of the MDT to optimise patients’ outcomes.
• To contribute, as a member of the speech and language therapy team, to the evaluation and audit of practice.
• To initiate and contribute to service improvements

The successful applicant will have experience of working in neuro rehabilitation with post graduate experience in the management of dysphagia. With the support of senior therapists you will have the opportunity to further develop your communication and dysphagia skills within this specialist team.
