Occupational Therapist

Contract Type: 3-Month Contract with View to Extend

Hourly Rate: £30-£36 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Moving and Handling Expertise: We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with significant experience in moving and handling techniques. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in assessing individual needs and implementing appropriate strategies to enhance mobility and independence.

Single-Handed Care Project: The selected candidate will be actively involved in our single-handed care initiative. This project aims to improve the overall care experience by reducing reliance on double-handed care packages and optimizing individualised support.

Manual Handling Assessments: Conduct thorough manual handling assessments to identify specific needs and recommend suitable equipment. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for ensuring that the recommended equipment is in place to enhance the safety and well-being of the individuals in our care.

Carer Training: Provide comprehensive training sessions to carers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to implement safe and effective moving and handling techniques. The goal is to empower carers to provide high-quality care independently.

Transition to Single-Handed Care: Work collaboratively with the team to assess and, where appropriate, transition from double-handed care packages to single-handed care. This involves evaluating the feasibility and safety of such transitions and implementing changes as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree in Occupational Therapy

Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Significant experience in moving and handling within a care setting

Proven track record of successfully implementing single-handed care initiatives

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
