Job description
AALTO’s Zephyr is a High-Altitude Platform Station (HAPS) and is the only one of its kind to have demonstrated day/night longevity in the stratosphere. Providing a persistent and adaptable solution, unlike other unmanned aircraft. Its persistence enables a capability of flying continuously for months at a time, at around 70,000 feet, above weather and conventional air traffic.
The newly established entity shall become the leading Global HAPS Connectivity as a Service (CaaS) provider for the Mobile and Satellite Network Operator market – connecting the diverse needs of our customers – whether for rural, overlay capacity, disaster recovery or new services provision. In addition, it shall offer Platform as a Service (PaaS) to the Institutional and Military markets for Earth observation, tracking and communications requirements, as well as operating a global fleet of carbon neutral HAPS platforms – powered by sunlight.
Job Purpose:
You will be part of the Technical Programme Management team, responsible for working with design, manufacturing, and operations to successfully deliver Zephyr Products (Aircraft, Ground Systems, Payloads, and Service Management Systems) into service, enabling world leading stratospheric solutions.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Management Office (PMO) Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, with a strong background in project management, process improvement, and aerospace knowledge.
The PMO manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation and standardisation of a tailored project governance processes for the Technical Programme Management team, whilst driving project success and improving operating efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Drive a benefits management and outcome-driven culture.
Focusing on right-sizing processes and governance, based on the unique characteristics of each project to produce high-quality results efficiently, quickly, and effectively.
Standardise and document PMO structure, policies, procedures, and processes that are aligned to best industry standards, to promote consistent project execution, facilitate decision making, whilst keeping the team well-prepared for evolving market trends.
Organise and support the project reviews, consistently measuring and regularly reviewing project performance.
Drive continuous improvement throughout the organisation, transferring valuable knowledge gained from each project to strengthen future project delivery.
Collaborate with department heads to plan and allocate resources appropriately for project execution.
Optimize resource utilisation and provide recommendations for resource allocation adjustments based on project priorities.
Establish a proactive approach to risk management within the PMO.
Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential project risks.
Define and track key performance indicators for project success that are fully aligned to the wider organisation.
Regularly report on PMO performance to senior management, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Use the latest project-level tools and data extensively to make evidence-based decisions.
Embrace digital transformation and automation to streamline project management processes.
Experience and Qualifications:
Qualified to degree level, or equivalent working experience, holding a recognised project management accreditation
Proven experience in establishing and delivering project management processes aligned to industry standards.
