Job description
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Full Stack Developer for an initial 12 month contract on a salary of £35,605 - £49,761/annum. This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain web applications using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Create and consume RESTful APIs for integrating with external systems and services.
- Build reusable and scalable code components to ensure efficiency and maintainability.
- Debug and resolve issues with existing applications, including troubleshooting performance bottlenecks and fixing bugs.
- Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members to ensure high-quality code standards.
- Conduct thorough testing and QA checks to identify and fix software defects before deployment, writing automated tests where required.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in web development to ensure continuous improvement of skills and technologies used.
- Optimise application performance by implementing caching mechanisms, database optimizations, and code optimisations.
- Ensure code and application security by implementing proper authentication, authorisation, and data validation measures, linked to OWASP and Secure Development Framework
- Participate in code documentation and maintain up-to-date documentation for developed applications.
- Collaborate with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Participate in the review and improvement of the Secure Software Development Lifecycle.
- Provide expert product support on applications and platforms where required.
Essential Skills:
- Proven work experience as a Full Stack Developer, with a strong focus on PHP, Laravel, and Vue.js.
- Solid understanding of Linux administration, including server setup and maintenance.
- Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and proficiency in writing efficient SQL queries.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with other PHP frameworks and libraries.
- Knowledge of front-end frameworks like React or Angular.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
