Job description

Our story began almost 20 years ago. It started with a desire to help people facing a range of pregnancy crises, including pregnancy loss and post-abortion trauma. Choices Aberdeen became a Scottish Registered Charity and Limited Company in August 2006. We later began ‘Relationship Revolution’, our youth program. We believe that by investing in young people, and giving them opportunities to think about their choices when it comes to sex and relationships, we can have a hugely positive impact on our city for generations to come. Choices Aberdeen is an organisation with a Christian ethos. This is our inspiration for loving unconditionally and serving the needs of the most vulnerable in our city. The Role:  Youth Development Worker x 2

We are seeking an organised youth worker with a passion for innovation, learning and progress to support our Relationship Revolution project.The role may require occasional weekend work as we continue to develop our youth work program. 

As a Development Worker (Youth) at Choices Aberdeen,  you will play a central role in delivering high-quality Relationship Revolution materials to support and empower  young people to make positive choices in our partner schools across the city.

Detailed Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION (YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WORKER)

 

Job Title:                               Development Worker (Youth)x 2 Vacancy

Hours:                                    1 x Up to 21 hours a week (must be available school term time)

1x Up to 14 hours a week (must be available school term)

Full Time option can be considered for the right candidate

Accountable to:                    Centre Manager

Salary:                                    £13.50 per hour + Pension Contributions

Contract:                               tba (yearly depended on funding, however funding has been                                                                     continuous for more than 10 years)

Job Summary

 

To develop and deliver quality creative and engaging youth intervention projects and educational workshops on the subject of positive relationships as agreed by Choices. 

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

 

●       Develop appropriate learning plans

●       Produce and maintain educational materials including media resources

●       Deliver educational workshops

●       Provide group and one to one support for young people as appropriate

●       Interact with schools and other partners to organise sessions

●       Train and support volunteer youth workers

●       Ensure evaluation of all workshops delivered

●       Attend networking and speaking arrangements representing Choices Aberdeen

●       Provide annual statistics of service delivery

●       Maintain an e-library of all relevant research and government papers on relationships and                 sexual health

●       Attend training as required

●       Promote the work of Choices Aberdeen at events and using social media

●       Abide by the policies and respect the ethos of Choices Aberdeen

●       An Occupational Requirement exists for the post-holder to be a Christian in accordance with              the Equality Act 2010
