Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Location : Between Launceston and Okehampton, Cornwall/Devon border

Contract Type: Full-time temporary position, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent contract

Start Date: After Easter, or earlier if available

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team at a school located between Launceston and Okehampton. As an SEN TA, you will primarily work on a one-to-one basis with a child with special educational needs, providing tailored support to help them reach their full potential. Additionally, you will collaborate with classroom teachers to create an inclusive learning environment and support the needs of all students within the class.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one support to a child with special educational needs, implementing individualised learning plans and strategies.
• Assist the child with academic tasks, as well as social and emotional development, fostering independence and confidence.
• Work closely with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and accommodate the diverse needs of students.
• Support the inclusion of the child within the classroom setting, promoting positive peer interactions and engagement in activities.
• Monitor and record the progress of the child, identifying areas for further support and intervention as needed.
• Maintain open communication with parents/guardians and other relevant stakeholders regarding the child's progress and well-being.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly those with special educational needs.
• A passion for supporting the learning and development of children with diverse needs, with a patient and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work within a dynamic school environment, responding to the individual needs of students.
• A current enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service, or the willingness to complete a new one prior to starting.
