Job title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Type: Permanent
Start date: Subject to clearance
Duration: Permanent
Pay rate: £40,000 - £65,000 per annum DOE
Hours of work: 37 hours a week
Location: Somerset

Must Haves
* BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering
* Self-starter, ability to work unsupervised
* Wide ranging interest in engineering
* Creative problem solver
* Questioning attitude
* Strong communicator, verbal and written
* Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
* Analytical mind and willingness to produce calculations
* The ability to work cross functionally with a team both technically and non-technically
* Lead projects with increased complexity and scope
* Experience of technical design to codes and standards
* Create specifications associated drawings, and procedural specifications to provide the required technical information necessary

Desirable
* Plan, schedule and leads team supporting projects to achieve project objectives and milestones.
* The ability to deal with ambiguity and effective use of creative problem-solving skills
* Embrace lean principals and utilize concepts such as standard work to drive continuous improvement.
* Verify systems, studying and recommending techniques to improve and / or cost reduce existing products / processes.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provision of engineering technical advice to all parts of the UK business.
* Author and verify technical reports for both internal and external purposes.
* Produce technical proposals in support of contracts and tenders.
* Carry out projects and tasks as allocated where SQEP and provide support and technical assistance where SQEP.
* Assist in workload forecasting and manpower planning.
* Ensure the scope of projects is delivered on time and on budget whilst maintaining a focus on quality throughout.
* Review existing applications and recommend technical improvements.
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with UK Management Systems.
* Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with internal teams and external clients.
* Originate or contribute to engineering documents and supporting design deliverables including:

* Feasibility studies
* Optioneering Reports
* Engineering Briefs
* Supplier/Procurement specifications
* Functional Specifications
* Outline Installation Method Statements
* Designers risk assessments and residual risk registers
* Scoping Calculations

* Participate in formal engineering process activities including:

* Optioneering
* Design Review
* HAZOP
* Designers Risk Assessment
* Constructability reviews

* Build positive relationships with internal customers:
* Decommissioning
* Site Services
* Consultancy

* Undertake business development activities including:
* Identification and development of opportunities
* Draft technical responses in tenders and bids.

* Where required, review and provide feedback on mechanical design deliverables, in line with UK processes to agreed timescales. Deliverables include:

* 3D mechanical designs containing 3D models, 2D part and assembly drawings.
* 2D mechanical designs containing 2D layouts, part, and assembly drawings.
* Mechanical flow drawings
* Ventilation Flow diagrams
* Process flow diagrams
* Mechanical sequence diagrams

* Assist, mentor, guide, and train less experienced colleagues in ensuring compliance with pre-defined standards.
* Liaise with suppliers, clients, and regulators.
* Identify and communicate own training requirements.
