Job description

Teaching is the most rewarding job in the world. We have the opportunity to change students’ lives for the better and you could make a positive impact at St Peter’s School.

We are a forward thinking and rapidly improving, “good” school that is creating a legacy of learning for our community. Our students Learn, Aspire and Exceed as they work with our highly skilled teaching and associate staff supporting and guiding them.

St Peter’s is part of The Cam Academy Trust which offers students and staff fantastic potential to collaborate, share and develop a wide range of teaching and learning across the schools in the trust. As a family of schools, we support, share and challenge each other to improve the future lives of all our young people.

St. Peter’s SEND provision has a good reputation, within The Cam Academy Trust and local area. Part of our SEND offer is our KS3 Nurture provision which has been established for 9 years. The Nurture department consists of 4 dedicated teachers leading the curriculum with experience in developing numeracy and literacy. There is a tailored curriculum based on improving their basic skills to an age appropriate level so that they can successfully integrate into secondary school life. The Nurture teachers utilise a wide range of teaching strategies, using an adapted primary model, to improve engagement with education for the students. Class sizes are capped at 16 at a maximum but on average are 12 students or less.

The suitable candidate will either be:

• an experienced practitioner with SEND or primary experience

• an ECT with an in interest in SEND, numeracy and literacy

Any school, indeed any group of schools, is only as strong as its people. At St Peter’s we invest in high quality recruitment, development and empowerment to ensure its pupils benefit from excellent role modelling, outstanding support and exceptional teaching.

We are based in Huntingdon, just 12 miles north of Cambridge with its own mainline station connecting with London in less than an hour
