Job description

A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.

We are delighted to offer you the opportunity to work in a Ward environment specialising in elective surgery (ward 7) and the rehabilitation of trauma orthopaedic patients (ward 6) You will be based on either ward 6 and 7 in support of, and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), providing nursing care and assistance to patients in all aspects of daily living but may be required to work on either ward depending on patient demand.

You will also be expected to undertake some administrative duties, such as recording patient information. Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.

There will be some general ward duties, such as stock control, patient meals – patient care being paramount, helping to provide a quality service for the patients and the Trust.

Work in support under the direction of a registered
nurse.

Providing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse (RN).

Record patient information.

Provide basic patient care and document that care in the
patient records.

Complete required job related training as required.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
