About McLaren Racing’s Creative Studio:
McLaren Racing’s Creative Studio is the creative heart of our Racing teams. Working across F1, IndyCar, Formula E, Extreme E and Sim Racing the team’s responsible for conceptualising and designing the visual identity of our racing teams. This includes brand identity, race liveries, environments, major campaign IP and key marketing assets.
Collaborating with multiple specialised marketing teams and key partners, the studio works closely with our Strategy team to define the approach, delivering creative excellence across a wide range of design disciplines and touch points, including print, motion, licensed product, team kit and social content.
Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this role is to oversee the day-to-day running of our Brand Creative Studio. You will work closely with our studio to ensure that a wider range of projects are delivered effectively and to the highest possible standards.
The post holder will be responsible for managing workflow in and out of the studio. You will be accountable for:
- Supporting a range of departments in generating creative briefs for the studio.
- Ensuring all creative briefs are clear and get the most from our team.
- Working with team to manage the flow of work on major projects, ensuring other departments’ input is secured in a timely and effective manner and that the work delivers against the brief.
- Planning work schedules, calendars and helping the team prioritise work.
- Gathering timely feedback on creative work and ensuring this is well managed back into the studio.
- Managing proactive creative input into other departments, notably Licensing and Digital.
Applicants should have broad experience of working with creative teams in areas such as brand, marketing, design, digital and production.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Expected
- Extensive experience managing the day-to-day operations for creative teams.
- Experience working in Creative, Design or Brand agencies (or other fast-paced service-driven environment).
- Very strong understanding of the creative and design process, ideally applied in a variety of disciplines including brand, marketing, design, digital, motion and production.
- Demonstrated knowledge of creative briefing process, able to assess and interrogate briefs to ensure they will generate the best output.
- Very strong deadline management and attention to detail.
- A strong communicator, able to build productive and collaborative relationships.
- Strong stakeholder management, able to hold a wide range of teams to account for deliverables and deadlines.
Advantageous
- Strong experience of working on digital and social campaigns or projects
- Skilled with Adobe applications including inDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications. Some experience of general art working and presentation preparation.
Principal Accountabilities
- Support a range of departments in developing creative briefs, ensuring these are clear, consistent and inform high-standards of creative output. Where required, manage creative briefing sessions.
- Ensure there is a clear and consistent process for briefing in creative work to the Brand Creative Studio.
- Manage the creative briefing workflow, ensuring clear deadlines, deliverables and strong communication between the Creative Studio and other departments.
- Plan the annual and monthly workflow for the Creative Studio with our Creative Director.
- Run weekly creative operations sessions and ensure deadlines are managed and met.
- Actively update and manage other departments on the progress of creative work.
- Act as the key point-person for the Creative Studio in a range of departmental meetings.
- Ensure Creative teams deploy their time in the most efficient way. Staying on track with tasks, timings and deliverables.
- Effectively manage input and feedback to the creative process from key stakeholders.
- Support the Brand Management team in ensuring major campaign assets and ongoing partner requirements are well managed in the Studio.
- Assist with production where needed.
- Proof and review designs and checking documents before they are shared
- Manage freelance input and budget.
- Set up systems and processes so that the wider team is aware of how the Creative Studio operates.
