Job description
A leading chemicals business based in Grays, Essex is recruiting a Production Team Leader to join its team a permanent basis. You will be responsible for leading the shift team and assigning resources to execute daily plans, working to the Production and Logistics schedules. You will also ensure that activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner, following company processes, maintaining quality levels, and providing leadership to the team.
Please note there is a shift pattern included in this role. Based on a 3-week rotating plan. First week (Early), Second week (Late), and Third week (Nights).
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Operations.
Lead blenders on shift to ensure safe, efficient, accurate and correct execution/administration of:
Tanker receipts and despatches
Blending and product movement operations
Decants
Housekeeping standards (including waste fuel handing, general tidiness, stock rotation)
Equipment care standards (equipment husbandry and use of MRS)
Work with planning to execute weekly blending plan though:
Communication of progress
Provide immediate response to blending issues during day to day operations
Identification of operational efficiencies and opportunities within the production plan
Assist and cover during periods of leave (subject to training and individual competencies)
Permit issue
Plant isolation
Lock out
Assist in the writing and review of new site SOPs and conduct annual review of all blending SOPs as part of continuous review/improvement programme
Undertake appointed role within the ERP
Act as appointed fire marshal
Assist in other scheduled and ad-hoc activities to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the site
Experience Required
Strong working knowledge of the CAF production facility, products, components, and manufacturing standards.
Understanding of process safety and alarm management
Trained in emergency response procedures with specific understanding of their role with ERP.
Practical experience in the use of computerised supply chain management and stock systems
Demonstration of leadership, communication and organisational skills
Aptitude for literacy and numeracy in order to read and understand and then execute instructions as per written works order documentation
Ability to translate written operational instructions to practical execution of plant machinery and equipment
Physical robustness and ability to work on a shift pattern
Positive attitude when presented with issues,
Hands-on approach of working with ‘from the front’ management style
Robust approach to problem solving in relation to plant and operational issues
Enthusiasm and perseverance
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Ability to build rapport with team and develop a genuine relationship of mutual respect.
