37 hour per week
We are looking for a Crematorium Technician, to join our experienced team at Coychurch Crematorium.
As part of the operational team you will carry out all technical duties relating to the cremation service. This will include cremating and controlling all crematory equipment, acting as chapel attendant, the laying to rest of cremated remains, fixing memorial plaques and general cleaning and maintenance duties.
You will have the ability to follow work instructions, both written and oral, and demonstrate an understanding of good customer care skills. It is essential that you have good communication skills and a sympathetic and understanding approach, as you will liaise closely with the bereaved, Funeral Directors and members of the clergy.
A self-motivated individual, with good organisational; skills, you will have a flexible approach to work, as duties will include evenings and weekend working in accordance with the needs of the service. With the ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail when completing records and following instructions, you will work effectively as part of a team and work using your own initiative.
Ideally you will hold the Crematorium Technician’s Training Certificate and have experience within the bereavement field. The ability to operate computer controlled machinery, through training, is required and you must also demonstrate the commitment to achieve the Cremator Technicians Training Certificate, within an agreed time scale.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
Night Duties, Weekend Working are a requirement of this post.
A Health Surveillance assessment through our Occupational Health Service is a requirement for this post.
