We have an exciting opportunity available for a Private Secretary to join Merseyside Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner at Mather Avenue Training Centre, to work for This is a temporary ongoing role for 12 months, at 37 hours a week, Monday-Friday. PLEASE NOTE DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS. The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Merseyside is an elected individual whose job it is to make sure Merseyside Police is run effectively, acting as your voice on policing issues in the region. Elected by you, the PCC's role is to be the voice of the people and hold the police to account. PCCs ensure the police are answerable to the communities they serve. They have the power to hire and fire the Chief Constable. PCCs do not run the police force at an operational level. However, they must ensure those who are in charge do a good job. The PCC decides what the force should be focusing on and the crimes it should prioritise. This detail is contained in the Police and Crime Plan. PCCs ensure community needs are met as effectively as possible and are improving local relationships through building confidence and restoring trust. They work in partnership across a range of agencies at local & national level to ensure there is a unified approach to preventing & reducing crime. Police and Crime Commissioners were brought in by the Government in 2012 to replace Police Authorities. Job Purpose To be responsible for the provision of a confidential & effective secretarial & administrative support service to the PCC, Chief Executive and OPCC Senior Management Team. Knowledge & Experience Excellent secretarial skills: extensive diary/time management; shorthand/speedwriting; audio-typing; word processing; organisation; quality assurance of standards Previous effective experience in a secretarial role - comfortable working with a Senior Management Team Professional record of servicing corporate meetings & production of accurate & concise minutes Capacity to keep up-to-date with relevant strategic & political issues Comprehension of the critical incident management process Well-developed communication skills - verbal & written - and understanding of sensitivity / confidentiality issues Interpersonally confident successful negotiator - forward thinking & self-motivated Highly proficient IT user - especially Microsoft Office Ability to research & assimilate information & data for condensed briefings Clear overview of the organisational structure & stakeholders - internal & external - to provide and receive informal assistance information & feedback Adecco acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
